Honestly, if you were to google the above title, the only interesting attraction that may appear is The Gateway Arch. Musuems, Zoo, farms and the likes appear merely to make the numbers, at least to me.
Having nothing better to do last Sunday, we went to The Arch. Pictures speak for themselves.
These 3 pics were taken when we were in the car, driving towards The Arch. This is our 1st time to downtown. The entire place looked deserted, probably coz its a non working day. Still, I felt intimidated when we were whizzing around to figure our way to the carpark. Perhaps I read and listened too much to the horror stories about downtown, and how unsafe it is.
Still on the way to The Arch, I took a not very nice picture of the Busch Stadium. It's the home to the St. Louis Cardinals, the baseball team.
Next up is the Old Courthouse.
The riverside cruise.
A bridge, dunno the name yet. By now, you should have realised the sky here in St. Louis is almost perpetually very blue. Make my pictures look very nice; I like!
After parking the car, we need to take a 5 mins walk to the Arch.
Hubby insisted on taking this picture when he saw the Queen Casino across the river, depsite me telling him the casino will appear very tiny on the pic. There are quite a number of casinos here, and I think the largest is Ameristar, which we went to the night before The Arch.
Finally we've arrived at our destination. We had plans to pay to take the ride up the Arch but as the queue was super long, we decided to visit the museum situated at the basement of the Arch instead. It's now one of my agenda in Fall to go up the Arch when the scenery is more captivating.
Hubby was enthralled by the Westward Expansion Museum, which is in the basement of the Arch which I mentioned previously. He made all 8 of us waited outside the exit while he took his time to decipher American history. Now I realise Hubby likes history.
That's me with a photo of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States. He successfully led his country through its greatest crisis, the Civil War, only to be assassinated less than a week after the war's end.
How the Red Indians used to live.
On Saturday nite, 7 of us went to the Ameristar Casino. Only Zhiwei and I gambled. Not because I wanted to, but because the gambler in hubby wanted me to. Having saw me won some money in Melbourne some months back, he wanted me to try my luck at the table again. However the Casino does not have a Baccarat table and since the Flop Poker looks interesting I sat down playing with $120 chips. By the end of the 8th game or so, I departed from the table with only $50 left. For all rounds, my heart bled when my money was taken by the Banker, except once when I got paid, and another time I broke even with the Banker. Suay luck!
Throngs of cars heading to the Ameristar Casino.
Seven of us feeling lucky! Haha... Pls pardon the blurness of the photo. It was taken by a very friendly security guard, who volunteered to take for us, without us having to ask!
From L to R: Hubby, Me, Meixuan, Say Kwee, Shaun Soh, Mingwei & Zhiwei.
See the queue poles, with some pple queuing up? This is mainly set up for first-timers (like us) to the casino. We need to present our passports/IDs for age verification, then wait to collect a Star Card with our names imprinted almost immediately.
This is the card! We need to present this card together with our passports at the entrance to gain access to the casino.
Now, I hope this post satisfies all your cravings for more pictures. I've uploaded 17 pics! Took me quite awhile.
Btw, yesterday's curry was fabulicious! Yum yum...
Our kitchen sink is now choked up pretty badly. Guess its either the fault of the previous tenant, or the management overlooked to clear the sewage. I got to to down to the management now to report the fault. Ciao!
